Scarf: Vintage// Top: H m M// Trousers: Zara//Wedges: Primark

I wore this for a little trip to Ikea (though I changed to flat shoes as traipsing round that place is super tiring). People do dress up to go to the Ikea near me, so why not join in.

I've been quite AWOL from Blogger what with not being able to comment on my mum's super slow computer, and yesterday having a day off from work. I spent most of my weekend painting the stairs, which was an arduous, back breaking job I can tell you.

These riots are just getting out of control. What bugs me is people not taking responsibility and blaming their actions on "social exclusion" or poverty. But come on. Is the answer really to smash up local businesses and steal flat screen TVs? There's no excuse for that sort of behaviour, just thuggery and mindless violence. I hope it doesn't spread even further tonight..

On pleasanter news we've finally moved Mr B (the cat) into the flat, and he's a little freaked still, padding around smelling everything and checking out all the nooks and crannies. Photos to come of the flat!

  1. The riots are just ludacris now. I can't stand it. :( Why would people do those sort of things?!

But, on lighter news, loving your outfit!

  4. Our Ikea is mostly full of stressed, angry people. They definitely don't get dressed up to go there!

Love your headscarf. Where's the beautiful ring from?

  8. Lovely outfit, I especially love the trousers. I am not brave enough to wear such things, Im sure I wouldn't pull it off as well as you do sweetling <3

Good luck with your new place as well, I love planning how I wish to decorate but actually doing it is a whole other story. Just painting my bedroom was enough for me ;p

There was a similar situation 3 years ago in Greece but not so much looting involved I think.

  12. The riots are awful, people are just looting everywhere and it's destroying people's homes and businesses!

I love the scarf and it looks so good with the striped top, sort of got a french chic thing going on there! Your trousers are lovely too. Is that the new flat I see in the picture, it's coming along nicely and I love the flooring. Glad to hear Mr B is with you in the flat now!

  17. That's just horrible about the riots. I just can't understand people's thought process when engaging in behavior like that.

I hope to be taking a trip to Ikea soon too for my place:) You look adorable and I am loving your headscarf with your stripe top. Very cute and retro. Looking forward to seeing photos of your new place. xx Marisa

  20. this is the perfect IKEA outfit. I used to admire people dressed like you in IKEA. Although I agree, if you are at all like me in IKEA heels are not the way to go. I could spend hours just in the photo frame and candle section!

I am from England too and have been living in Korea for almost a year. I am coming home in a few weeks, and cannot believe what I'm hearing about these riots. They keep trying to bring in politics, but ruining normal people's lives isn't going to prompt a governmental change. Argh, so annoying!

Good luck with all the decoration :) Hope kitty settles in soon xx

  25. Great outfit- love the idea of dressing up for Ikea!

Totally agree with you on the riots, people are just taking advantage and behaving mindlessly. Hopefully will settle down soon.

  26. Wow at that outfit, you look so cute! Those trousers are soo nice, how much? I can never be bothered to dress up that much for IKEA!
That's what annoys me about the riots, there is no reason for them. I hate when people call it looting, that suggest there is some motive for their actions. It is simply stealing!

    Rant over.

Love your blog, am now folliowing :)

  29. LOVE this! especially the knotted scarf, you look lovely :) Did you find anything in Ikea after all? I cannot manage a trip without getting something!

I wholeheartedly agree with your comments about the riots. They've gone so beyond what they had originally been instigated for.. especially the ridiculous copycat riots across the country.

  32. Such a lovely outfit as usual, really like your tee! A classic staple piece.

I know, I can't get my head around it. They say they have no jobs because of the goverment so they decide to knick some fags off of a family business. Where is the logic in that.

Looking forward to your pictures of the new flat, I can imagine getting my own one day to design as I please.

  33. YAY. I love IKEA! I adore your ring as well :)

and completely agree with riots! and I don't think anyone who owns a blackberry can be considered poor, despite what class they are labelled... it's pure greed! I really hope everyone is reprimanded for their actions

  39. I love what you wore, and I love Ikea. I hope the riots ends soon, like asap. It makes no sense to me, especially the rioters not taking the blame for their own actions!

  43. Gosh, I love your red lippy and the scarf worn in your hair like that. You look fantastic.

I'm so glad that things have calmed down on the rioting front. I live near Birmingham and it's so sad seeing what's happened the high street...

    ReplyDelete
  44. I adore the headscarf, my dear. And you are totally rockin' the red lippy. Me loves!

    xx Love & Aloha

  45. I'm totally way late on this but cute outfit! Really liking the lips and headscarf, has a very retro-working-girl type feel. You definitely remind me of the trendy types traipsing freely through ikea picking out trendy furniture. (I live 2 mins away from one)

And the riots,I can't even begin to imagine whats in their headspace, and what makes them think their actions are justified =/
