Reasons to leave my job (part III)

I thought I would share a nice email Mat (one of the directors) sent us all-

"Hi,

I am sick of it so to remind to those ones who have bad memories:
In the morning if you are late by more than 10mn you are not welcome in our office. You can come at 2pm or take the day off.
Obviously it will be taken off your holidays.

This rule didn’t existed in the past but you gave us no other choice

Mat & Brice

PS: The only excuse accepted will be exceptional events like Riots, terrorist attacks etc
"

Ahhh, heart warming I know. One week to go!!

I'm feeling a little blah. We moved out of our flat in Muswell Hill back on the 8th of July, and moved into this flat around the 25th of July- although with the palava to get the floor down we didn't move in properly for a week or so- and we still don't have internet there! Sky came and installed TV and phone line, and said it would take another 10 days to activate the internet! The letter they sent said the activation date was the same one as the installation date, but this is clearly not the case. Grrr. #hatingtechnologybutneedingitallthesame
Hence lack of outfits and anything very interesting on here.

I have reached 200 followers (little dance) so I am thinking about finally doing a little giveaway, not really for reaching this humongous milestone, more just because I have stuff I want to get rid of (no, no, some hand picked items that I would like to gift to someone...). Probably in the shape of a vintage tea cup and saucer, some sweet shop sweets and we'll see what else.

On for some inspiration pictures- old books, yes please. I could use photos from my mum's flat, she could set up a second hand bookshop by herself. I've always had this weird thing though- old books scare me at times, especially when there are lots together with old covers, and mildew stains from long ago. The white pages before the book starts scare me (weird phobia...) But old covers can be beautiful too (second photo).

  3. I hate the job I'm in but I only work 12 hours on weekends so I have to stick it out, nowhere has jobs! I'd love to put my enery to good use and do something I'm interested in but hopefully after university things will pan out but I don't want to give my hopes up.. I'm such a pessimist!

I loved what you did to the floor of your house, it's great and so unique.

  5. Ah your job sounds awful. But then again, I'd take any job right now haha.

Your giveaway sounds lovely tbh - I'm never interested in make-up giveaways, I'd much rather win something unique that I couldn't get myself!

  6. Thanks for the sharing how to paint your stairs! Your boss sounds really horrible :-/. My managers are pretty lenient on what time you turn up (as long as you don't just saunter in at 11 because you fancied a lay in), mainly because they know people will put the extra effort in when things get busy.

The books are lovely - I love the quote from Alice In Wonderland. The giveaway sounds lovely too, looking forward to that.

  9. What a lovely email! I had a teacher in college that if you were late, you had to stand outside the door and just wait until the teacher decided to let you in! People can be crazy!

  11. your boss does indeed sound charming.
and you sound horrifically busy with the house! don't despair though, i personally think it looks great so far (from the limited pictures you have posted)

I love being in a room full of books; to me it seems more like being in a room full of friends, or personalities (especially if they are old). Or perhaps that's just me...

  12. My previous boss was also like that! rules in the company are ever-so-changing and everything makes us confused because the news of new rules hardly get to us since I do field works. What a lovely boss. thanks for your comment. <3

  21. Anytime I see someone who has a gorgeous book shelf- I always think wow smart people must live here. :) my book shelf is so crammed with books and not as pretty as most lol.

I think I would give my bosses a big fat eye roll. I understand they are probably trying to run a professional business but I don't really see how they are leading a good example of professionalism.

  22. The cheek of the man! I would hate to receive an email like that. Congratulations on the 200 mark. And what inspiring photos!

  30. I want to slap your boss.

haha, being scared of the first blank pages of a book is probably one of the weirdest phobias I have ever heard of! :D

  31. haha i think that email is funny. i hate people who are always late so a nice email like that will serve them well haha!

  32. I have to ask.. are Mat and Brice ever more than 10 m late???

    ReplyDelete
  33. Brice is often late but as he's the boss he doesn't give a damn! -_-

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh wow...your ex boss sounds like a real winner (note the sarcasm...hehe). I used to have a female boss like that. She was crazy and if I was like a second late, she would flip...never realizing the many times I stayed late. She would screw paperwork & files up and always try to blame all us "low lifes". Thank goodness she finally retired...ha. Anyways, you will be much happier now that all that nonsense is behind you:)

Gorgeous books! I collect old 1st edition novels..and those ones are beauties!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I can completely relate to the feeling of needing to quit your job! Hang in there!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Uh, wow. Just wow. How did that guy land a spot in upper-management again? That sounds like something a bossy little ten-year-old would write, not a professional.

The books are lovely! I don't think I have a single "old" looking book. That needs to change...
