This photo shoot didn't go so well, these are the best of a bad bunch and one doesn't even have my face in it. Oh and I'm finally indulging in a bit of nail art, woo!

So I received my free Glossybox in the post after attending the Motel/Glossybox bloggers evening. I have to say straight up, it's not really something I would subscribe to. Not only am I living with nearly no money, but although I understand it's a fun surprise to open a pretty box every month and find new products inside, I think it would mostly be more miss than hit with me. I'm no beauty junkie, and though I do like finding out about new products, I think I can do that by reading other people's posts on their boxes. Or y'know, just popping to my nearest Superdrug/Boots and testing things out for myself. I don't wear that much make up and I'm quite happy at the moment with Aussie hair products, Garnier BB cream and a few others bits and pieces.
Still, it was fun to open the box! I will use the hand cream, and try out the hair treatment (sounds like a bit of a faff so only at the weekend..). My nails are short so the nail wraps aren't ideal.

A couple of welcome bits of news this week- I came fifth in the ethical fashion comp (congrats to Vic by the way for coming 1st!) so I cannot wait to receive my bag of vintage goodies.
I also received a visit from the Fairy Hobmother! The fairy that visited me is actually a man (but who am I to judge? :p) from Appliances Online. This couldn't have come at a better time, and I'll try to buy a few Christmas pressies with the Amazon voucher. Mr fairy will be paying a visit to this blog post and subsequently choosing someone who comments to be the next recipient!

  1. Oh Rachel, always looking stupendous. That coat is absolutely beautiful, I love the colour/cut/fur. Pretty much everything about it, and how much it matches the coat.

Definitely agree with you on the Gbox, I can't afford to be spending money on something that could be entirely unreliable. I'd be so disappointed by this box this month, I'm not a fan of nail wraps and things, but would like the hair stuff at least. Garnier BB cream is so good, I love it as an alternative to foundation.

Well done on your ethical comp! Can't wait to see your goodies, prizes are always good regardless of positioning. :)

Checking out this fairy hobmother thing, I've not really heard of it before, sounds like an interesting concept.

Oh gosh I've rambled on. Hope you're well and I shall shut up RIGHT NOW.

  2. I'd lusted after this coat before the motel even but couldn't see it there on the night! I ended up getting a pair of leopard hotpants that came in the post yesterday - now I've just got to be daring enough to wear them : /

Love the outfit you've put together here though, the jumper is so cute and looks so nice with the skirt! Annnnd I agree with you on the glossybox front, it was lovely to receive a freebie after motel but it's not something I'd ever subscribe too, I just don't think I could justfiy 120 a year on samples

  12. Ahhh, the pom poms are soo cute! I like your motel jacket as well! I'm subsribed to a similar service to glossy box over here and Canada and I have been liking it so far. Luckily I mostly received products that I like. I don't know how much longer I'm going to keep subscribed though, hopefully not too much longer but the suspense of finding out what's going to be in next months box always reels me back in :(

    xoxo,

  32. I don't really get glossybox either, there is too much choice in my local boots as it is, I don't need further choice haha! You look lovely as ever and I love love love the jumper! Well done on all the success as well! xxxxxx

  33. I love love love your monki jumper! It's gorgeous!

I kinda agree on glossybox with you. I'm making myself use all the products so that I get the most out of it but as I don't really wear that much makeup either, so it's a bit lost on me.

  34. How fun it's that jumper! You look adorable! like a little girl! I kind of agree with you about the glossybox! I do like the feeling when I receive the box! I'm with you with the whole idea about the beauty boxes, I'm so skint and although i love the idea of getting a little surprise each month, that tenner could have gone towards a product that I know i like and need! I love your jumper by the way, it looks so cosy and I'm still pining for your jacket :p

  44. Loving the cheerful jumper! :D Congratulions on your victory. And that is a Cath Kidston tablecloth, if I'm not mistaken.

By the way, thank you for expressing interest in the magazine. I will tell you more about it (including how to submit) when I have finished the website, probably in a few weeks.

I really agree on the Glossy box thing, it's a nice concept but I use very few products and would end up with a drawer full of forgotten samples.

  48. I love the bobble jumper, nice and bright. Clothes can tend to be a bit dull in colour in the winter so it's nice to brighten outfits up with pieces like this :) xx

  49. Love the jumper! I agree about the Glossybox thing, I was pretty lucky as I won the post with 17 products and everything pretty much works well for me. However I'd be annoyed at paying around £10 and not using 2-3 of the products. I do sometimes take up Graze boxes when on offer but that's only because I can choose the sorts of things I don't want, maybe Glossybox should do the same?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Haha the fairy hob mother sounds funny, what is it though? Did you win a free oven or something (seriously have no idea what it is). I agree with the glossy box, although I've not got mine yet as it was delivered whilst I was at work and I've not retrieved it from the delivery place yet. Some of the items in the box I'm not exactly really excited over, especially the foot cream I've been seeing people getting. The nail wraps look fun though, although I have short nails too. I love your jumper by the way, anything with pom poms on is a big hit with me. xo
