The blogging hiatus

So I kind of went and took a blogging break there (or hiatus which seems to be the word of choice to describe this). Have I missed it? Nope. I've looked at some blogs, commented on a few too, but generally I've not been feeling it. Sometimes blogging gets so repetitive and boring- a constant cycle of take blog photos/post/comment like mad to get comments back/ and repeat.

Anyway these photos are from ages ago (I think D has enjoyed the blogging break too and not having to take outfit photos in awkward places) and the weather is pretty awful these days anyway so I don't feel like wearing anything interesting or putting together some great outfit combination. I'm sure no one missed me! Nothing much of interest has happened anyway, still struggling along with the new job, it's my first pay day on this salary which sort of (maybe, maybe not) makes it worthwhile. And there's a three day weekend coming up, so I can't not be happy about that.

  1. You said it perfectly about blogging.. especially the comment furiously to get comments back thing. I've been loving blogging lately - but from a second account that is linked to my blog as author only so I'm not assaulted with follower count and page stats every time i log in - and although im enjoying posting ive not had time/energy to comment on everyones posts, so my comment count has dropped. I don't mind because I'm happy with what I'm writing etc at the mo, but i think what I'm trying to say through this ramble is that blogging takes so much work if you want to always maintain a certain interest and always keep interaction up and all that other stuff we seem to be expected to do. So much. And sometimes it's good to step away xx

  4. Love the Marc sunglasses. Life is too short to comment just to get comments back! I can only be arsed when I have genuine appreciation to express.

  5. I definitely know how you feel on the blog front. I go through stages of really getting into it and others where it becomes a routine, finding myself saying the same things again and not really getting much fulfillment out of it. I find myself gaining more enjoyment at times through sharing drawings. Don't get me wrong though I love a good outfit post, I find them inspiring - but I too just have days when I cannot be arsed to flip out the camera to take some shots haha.

I'm tempted to buy a pair of those trousers, I struggle with what to pair them with but you've hit the nail on the head here Rachel. I've got a few quid from my birthday a few days ago so I may try a pair on. I'm in a stage of only buying with a good reason though haha!

  6. Love your trousers! Such a nice pattern. It's nice to take a break from blogging now and again. I went through a period not long ago of being pretty uninspired with it all, but more recently I've been getting back into it again. Funny how it works like that sometimes!! Hope you have a lovely long weekend xx

  7. You sound dooooooooown Rachel! I hope you're ok :( and the new job isn't too much of a struggle - being the newbie always sucks except if you're Zooey Deschanel. ♥ Claire at Jazzpad

  8. Well, I've missed you! I understand though - blogging can be tiresome, and it's nice to take a break every now and again.
Hope you have a lovely weekend. Treat yourself to something lovely seeing as you've been paid! xx

  9. I'm sorry to hear you haven't been feeling great about blogging recently :( I understand exactly what you mean, I think it's difficult for blogging to just remain a hobby sometimes as the blogging world has gotten so big now so it can detract from why you're actually blogging :/ I find it really difficult putting my all into my posts and then finding time to comment on lots of blogs too. I have missed you lots and from the looks of these comments I'm not the only one :)
Hope you enjoy the three day weekend and your new job settles down a little :)

  14. I think it is normal for most bloggers to go through a bit of an uninspired stage, perfectly normal. After a break it helps re-fresh the mind. It is better to have put all you effort in fewer things than to create more half-hearted things. Hopefully the feeling won't last too long!

  17. Thanks for your comment Rachel :) I can relate to the work thing, in my past jobs those younger than me seem to have done more or have been more confident than me and you compare yourself to them. It's got me down a lot before but everyone does things at different times and that's completely fine! There is no life rules after all, just do the things that make you happy or seek out things that will!

I start a new retail job soon too, the hours are minimal and it's not what I thought I'd be doing as a graduate but so far each job I've got has been a new growing experience for me, so you sort of have to think of the pro's rather than the con's in a lot of situation I think. Very best of luck with the job too, hope the struggle doesn't last too long xxx
